Rosalba Carriera

Rosalba Carriera (12 January 1673 – 15 April 1757) was an Italian Rococo painter. In her younger years, she specialized in portrait miniatures.In her early career, she specialized in miniature painting, often creating small, highly detailed works that were popular among European aristocracy. As her style developed, she became one of the first major artists to fully embrace pastel as a primary medium, helping to elevate and popularize it across eighteenth-century Europe.
